Community Built Parts List and Instructions
« on: April 02, 2017, 04:39:54 pm »
Do you want to build a RC Speed Tank but don't want the hassle or expense of ordering the individual parts? You've come to the right place!

The way this process works is that 'we,' the community interested in making the project happen need to first figure out all of the parts details (part number, brand options, best vendor for cost/shipping time, etc. Once there is general consensus that we have enough interest and information the Assemble team will open a funding campaign (to pay to order the parts) on the Assemble.fund website where the beta team of ~10 campaign contributors (i.e. you and a few others) can contribute to the project at a deep discount since you are the trailblazers. In other words we are providing the ordering, sorting and shipping of the parts to you for your help drafting the instructions on how to build the project with the ordered and printed parts.

The RC Speed tank thingiverse page is our starting point and has some parts listed and very limited instructions. Lets get started refining everything so we can open a campaign! Ask questions here in the forums and be sure to post answers on the wiki page for this project http://wiki.assemble.fund/RC_Speed_Tank. In the end we should have a well refined parts list and instructions page similar to the one for Gyroman: http://wiki.assemble.fund/Gyroman.

Excellent Advice we received from project builder evil_k. we have incorporated this into the wiki.

Suggest use 55t motor. Have 35t and too fast!! Just ordered heat sinks from Aliexpress: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/RC-parts-Aluminum-540-550-Engine-Motor-Heat-sink-Cooling-Fin-For-RC-Car-Blue/1952979628.html

GoolRC 55t motor with speed controller: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/GoolRC-540-55T-4-Poles-Brushed-Motor-and-WP-1060-RTR-60A-Waterproof-Brushed-ESC-Speed/32659526699.html

Just GoolRC 55t motor ebay: http://www.ebay.ca/itm/351783563823

Axle Shaft Adapter: http://www.ebay.ca/itm/182373337494 (I have not received these yet, used a couple that came with drive sprockets I bought with the wrong pitch.)

Bearings can be bought from lots of places (ebay, aliexpress, etc.), 608-2RS and 624-2RS (do not get the 624ZZ bearings - this is going to be used outdoors, use the rubber seal bearings)

Have designed my own track links with an aggressive treat pattern. Am printing now. Am going to try to use 3mm ABS filament instead of 3mm bolts to hold the links together. Will publish on thingiverse once tested.
